The women of Philadelphia are lucky to have a photographer like Erika and Mike on their side. Allebach Photography, an award-winning boudoir and wedding photography studio located just 45 minutes west of Center City. But if you're reading this right now, chances are you already know that much about them. What you might not know is how fun she makes photographing women look – even when it involves disrobing. We recently sat down with Erika to learn more about who she is and what makes her business so special:
Why did you choose your career? And why did you make photography your line of work?
I've always been a creative person. I create in whatever form or medium I can always get my hands on. In high school, it was ceramics; in college it was fashion design and crafts; after college is when Mike and I started creating together (he's also an incredibly talented photographer). We started photographing weddings as a side business once our daughter was born. Our clients loved us so much that we eventually switched careers!

How long have you been working as a photographer? What makes your style special?
We've been shooting wedding professionally for about 15 years. Our style has evolved a lot over the years. We were inspired by modern boudoir photographers, but our work is quite different. I think our process makes us unique. There's something so beautiful about the way that light bounces off of skin, and no matter how hard you try to recreate it in a studio, nothing ever looks as good!
What do you love most about your career?
I get to wake up every morning excited to go to work! It doesn't feel like work when I'm behind my camera because I'm doing what I love to.
