Strength in Vulnerability: Giving The Middle FingeršŸ–•To Your Comfort Zone

Though many of our clients have grown to become our dear friends after having a session with us, itā€™s something extra special and an honor when old friends reach out and ask us to photograph them. And thatā€™s exactly what happened with one of Erikaā€™s closest friends and old roommate, L!

L was lucky enough to live with our fabulous Erika about a decade ago and during that time they became dear friends.Ā

ā€œErika is the type of woman you will have in your life forever. We had children at the same time and I was fortunate enough to babysit both of her kids,ā€ shared L, who at 37 is now both a mother and a wife.Ā

Though sheā€™s led many lives over the years, L says this one, the one where she challenges herself every day to gain confidence in herself, is her favorite.Ā

ā€œMy demons still exist but we are becoming friends,ā€ she explained. L ā€œThis past year I have pushed myself to do things I never thought I would. From a 5k, triathlon, and this photo shoot… Each of these ā€˜scaryā€™ experiences have helped me become strong and more confident in myself. If I continue to do only the things that I feel comfortable with, I will stay stuck.ā€

So, with a bestie by her side leading the way, L came in for her solo boudoir session.Ā Ā

ā€œI wanted to do things for myself. From past experiences I have covered my sexuality. I chose to do things to take back a part of myself that was taken from others. I don’t want to cover or shadow myself anymore.ā€

More than anything, L says her session gave her the openness and the opportunity to feel sexy. And not only did it make her feel sexy, it helped her realize that she IS sexy.Ā

ā€œI know I can be sexy,ā€ she said afterwards, adding that if she could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about a session ā€œto do it because every woman deserves to feel sexy.ā€

L was able to come in and do something for herself that challenged her comfort zone. But the best part of the experience was that she didnā€™t have to go it alone.

ā€œHaving her [Erika] at the photoshoot was everything. I wouldn’t have had the courage to do it without her there. She was there whenever I needed a smile of encouragement. She helped me feel strong. Erika and Mike make you feel like you are the most beautiful person and that every move you make is gorgeous. Thank you.ā€
