10 Questions You May Be Too Shy to Ask Your Boudoir Photographer (But Should)

Boudoir Photographer Questions

We get DM’s, texts, calls and emails with all sorts of questions. It’s completely understandable that you’d want to know as much as you can and be as prepared as you can for such an intimate and vulnerable experience.

We’ve written some other articles, covering some questions people have.

But what we really needed to address are those hard to ask questions, that may keep you from booking a session, or even a phone call!

Can I have just a woman photographer?

For solo boudoir, absolutely! In fact I (Erika) am the primary solo boudoir photographer here. Mike is typically here and will help with lighting for me and occasionally grab the camera when he sees something or has an idea. But I’ve had several clients prefer it to be just me and that is perfectly fine.

If you’re looking for me to photograph couples boudoir, I can do that as well. But I’ll be honest, that’s definitely where Mike outshines me. He’s incredibly talented (hence him being the wildly successful business owner that he is) and his reputation for creating a safe and comfortable environment precedes him.

What if I get “excited”?

This is probably the most common question that we get, although it seems to be difficult for people to articulate. So I’ll say it very bluntly… If you get aroused, whether that be from an erection or getting wet, it’s completely normal. It’s also just as normal to not get aroused because there is, essentially, an audience. Everything about our sex lives is normal, so we can’t expect your natural reactions in a sensual experience to just disappear, or appear on command. These experiences are beautiful and celebratory and, most importantly, normalizing sexuality and everything intimate that comes along with it.

What if it’s that time of the month?

No need to fear! We have toxic free tampons and Midol here for you. This is a loving and judgement free zone. Plus our monthly bleed is something to be celebrated. It’s a beautiful and sacred time of connection with the moon and the Earth and your divine feminine. We even had a client here who collected her blood as a part of her session. We want to celebrate your cycle and normalize talking about it and being open about it.

I have a tattoo that I hate. Can you photoshop it out?

Absolutely! When you see the photos during your Reveal and Ordering session, you will see them straight out of camera. During that session, you can let us know of any unwanted lumps, bumps, bruises, or tattoos. It’s no extra cost to edit that out of your final artwork!

I’m pre-op, pre-HRT. What can you do for me?

We can celebrate you, exactly as you are and where you are on your journey. We respect that everyone’s journey is their own and on their own timeline and it doesn’t have to look a certain way or be a certain way to be “acceptable”. Your plans are for you and you alone to make and it is not our place to judge that. You do not need to be at a certain stage of your transition to be here. You are worthy of being seen, heard and loved and we are the safest place for all of that.

Do you photograph polyamorous relationships?

We can and have and always will! We are not here to only photograph people who fit into societally acceptable boxes. If anything, we exist to help showcase the diversity of people, and of love, and of life.

Can my best friend/partner come?

We are one of few studios who allow you to bring people along that aren’t actually taking a part of the photography experience. If you have a hype person you trust to elevate your experience, by all means bring them! If your partner is into voyeurism and them watching will make the experience even better, do it! As long as we have a heads up, it’s all good and more than welcome! We may even tag them in to be a hand model for a few.

How far can we go for couples boudoir?

This is another major faq and while we know how spicy our website looks, everything is pretty much suggested. Since we aren’t filming anything, our main focus is capturing the spiciest and most flattering still moments. So we work hard to set up a very enticing moment and allow you to tease each other. I’ve even said on the phone that it’s like 5 hours of foreplay. How hot is it to continuously tease each other, knowing you have to contain yourselves. It makes the moment you’re alone that much better.

Now, for our Beyond Boudoir experience that we launched, we allowed for people to go further but still within limits to preserve the best experience. Restraint… edging… teasing… it’s all a part of a great sex anyway!

Can I bring my toys in for the session?

We introduced the option for this when we did our 50 Shades model call and our Beyond Boudoir model call! We are happy to have your toys a part of your session. Just make sure you mention it on your phone call so we can talk about expectations and desires for the outcome.

I am into cross-dressing or gender bending. Is that something I can do for a boudoir session?

Of course! We have had clients in here that enjoy cross-dressing and we received incredible feedback about how liberating it was! We are here to celebrate you and the people, experiences, things that bring you joy and peace and comfort. Whatever that is, it’s all welcome and encouraged here!

While we took some time to compile a list of questions we’ve received, that could be and have been hard to ask, we understand that there are others you may have. The purpose of this article was to, of course, answer these questions… but more importantly, it’s a way to show how safe a place Allebach Photography is to ask them. We wouldn’t have the reputation we have if we weren’t a place that truly encourages you to express yourself and BE yourself. Without that level of trust in us, you wouldn’t have the transformational and empowering experience that we work hard to create.

Whether you have questions you’ve never gotten solid answers to elsewhere, or you just appreciate the openness of this article and want to book an experience, I would love to hear from you! You can reply to this email or schedule a call with me!
